Have you ever seen falcon chicks?
In the heart of the pretty medieval village of St-Pons-de-Mauchiens, between vineyards and garrigues, you’ll discover a colony of kestrel falcons: a small, migratory, sociable and very rare bird of prey.
In fact, around a hundred pairs nest, protected by the inhabitants, under the roofs of the houses in this magnificent medieval circulade. The architecture of the houses and the natural environment offer them a privileged place to feed, reproduce and raise their young. The falcons take advantage of this stopover to teach the falcon chicks how to leave the nest, fly and feed themselves, before setting off again for Senegal: a long and perilous journey!
Throughout the tour, a guide will help you to observe and understand the behavior and habits of these little falcons in the heart of their natural environment. You’ll also learn about the birdwatcher’s activities.
